Cabernet Franc is a signature grape in our region and the exceptional 2017 vintage produced this reserve wine. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak, this wine displays classic floral and black pepper tones over a core of red bramble fruit and silky tannins.
Named in recognition of the Union soldiers stationed at our vineyard site during the Civil War who chose this land for its high relative elevation, our Encampment is a medium-bodied blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Petit Verdot.
Light to Medium bodied. Nose has a combination of cranberries and fresh raspberries ,while palate adds strawberries and a slight but pleasing minerality. Excellent served with a slight chill. A delightful daily drinker for Fall weather. Well suited to charcuterie and strong cheese.
